How to Find Us
Stanloch Steading is set in the rural countryside of Dumfries and Galloway, 400 yards outside the small village of Bankend. The distinctive red sandstone properties have a red gravel entrance from the main road.
Please note that there are a number of properties with the same postcode and so simply entering the postcode into satellite navigation will not bring you to the door.
The easiest way to navigate is to search ‘Stanloch Steading’ on Google Maps and follow these directions to the door. Alternatively, the driving directions are as follows:
From the North
Exit the M74 southbound at Junction 15, then follow the A701 towards Dumfries.
Once in Dumfries follow the signs for 'The Crichton' and then 'WWT Caerlaverock'.
As you leave Dumfries, continue on this road for 5 miles to Bankend.
In the village of Bankend, turn down the hill onto the B725 heading towards Annan/Ruthwell.
Follow the road and you will go over a narrow bridge. Stanloch Steading is the next property on your right - Stanloch Cottage, Stanloch Farmhouse and Stanloch Barn all share the same entrance.
From the South
Exit the M6 at Junction 22 - Take the A75 exit to South West Scotland/Dumfries/Stranraer/Gretna
Take the B721 towards Annan/Cummertrees
Take the next right turn onto B724 (brown signpost for Solway Coast Heritage Trail/Caerlaverock Castle)
Follow the B724 road for just over 6 miles and then take a left turn at the brown tourist sign signposted WWT Caerlaverock/Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve/Caerlaverock Castle)
Follow the B725 for just over 4 miles, Stanloch Steading is the sandstone courtyard with red gravel driveway on the left hand side.
